Chose clean polished lines for your Architraves to add elegance to any room.

Architraves also have a functional purpose by hiding the gap between the wall lining material, door jamb or window frames.

Why have some of the doors in my house have architraves only along one side and the top?

Generally this is due to a lazy builder - rather than going to the trouble of centering the opening for the door so that there is room for the door architraves on three sides they make the opening up against a right angle wall. This is generally done with block walls as it saves the builder the trouble of cutting the blocks and returning a nib or return wall. It spoils the look of the door, and detracts from a balanced look and feel to the room.

It can be especially noticeable if you are using high end designer door sets where the door, frame, and architraves are factory finished like a piece of furniture.
